Round two in the leadership spill is happening today.
Former Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said he believes he has the numbers to enact a leadership spill in Canberra this morning.
Mr Dutton attempted a spill on Tuesday but was unsuccessful. He needs 43 party room votes to overthrow Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
No Prime Minister has survived a second leadership challenge in 40 years.
More to come.
A few minutes ago I spoke with Malcolm Turnbull to advise him I believed the majority of the party room no longer supported his leadership. Accordingly, I asked him to convene a party room meeting at which I would challenge for the leadership of the Parliamentary Liberal Party.
