A Waroona man has been fined $1138 after using a net to catch a haul of mullet at the wrong time of the day.
Recreational set netting is permitted in the Peel-Harvey Inlet on Wednesday nights from November 1 until July 31 from 4.30pm to midnight.
The Mandurah Magistrates Court heard the 61-year-old man set his net in the Harvey Estuary at Birchmont on Wednesday, April 29 at 2.30pm, two hours earlier than allowed.
The court also heard the man had previously been issued a warning and three fines for past netting offences.
