Rangers have reopened Pyramids Beach in Dawesville after a 15-year-old boy was bitten by a shark.
Zac Hlaing was surfing around 5.30am on Tuesday when the shark latched onto his leg and foot, leaving him with six deep lacerations.
He managed to get back onto his board and swim to shore before nearby surfer Jay Reeves gave him a piggyback to his car, wrapped his leg in a towel and drove him to Peel Health Campus.
"He just screamed 'I've been bit by a shark' and he was the most calm and collected person you've ever met," Mr Reeves told 9News.
"He's lifted his foot out the water and he's just got blood dripping down his foot."
Speaking outside of Peel Health Campus, Zac said the ordeal was over in seconds.
"I was just standing still waiting for a wave to come and then I just felt something latch onto my leg and then we just seen a big tail flap up and a big splash and then it let go and swam off," he said.

The species of shark is still unknown but the Surf Life Saving helicopter reported a three-metre shark sighting at the same beach just hours after the incident.
