Five prisoners who escaped from a regional prison remain at large.
Residents in the mid-west city of Geraldton are being reminded to lock their doors and report any suspicious behaviour after a group of prisoners broke out of the Greenough Regional Prison on Tuesday evening.
Police said 12 men escaped the co-ed prison during a disturbance at the facility at around 4.30pm on Tuesday. Two of those thought to be missing were located inside the facility a short time later.
Three men were recaptured at Edward Road in Narngulu, south of Geraldton, with another two inmates taken into custody on Wednesday morning.
Additional resources from Perth, including police officers from the the Regional Operations Group, Tactical Response Group and Canine Section were sent to Geraldton to assist local authorities with recapturing the five remaining escapees. The extra resources will remain in Geraldton today.
