A Perth basketball player has been charged after allegedly arming himself with a gun when he disagreed with an umpire's decision.
The 38-year-old man was playing basketball at the Melville Recreation Centre on Monday when he "became angered at the decision making of umpires during the game".
The man then allegedly walked out of the centre and retrieved a handgun from his car before hiding it in his jumper.
He was stopped from re-entering the centre by friends.
On Tuesday, police searched the man's home and car and allegedly seized a 9mm handgun.
The Attadale man has been charged with being armed in a way to cause fear and carrying or using an unlicensed handgun.
He has been bailed to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court on June 26.
