The officer was cut by shattered glass after investigating a disturbance in Beeliar.
Police are investigating following what's believed to be a drug-fuelled rampage in Beeliar on Tuesday evening.
Around 9.40pm on Tuesday night officers were called to a home in Beeliar to reports of a disturbance.
It's alleged on arrival they located a 25-year-old man under the effects of an unknown substance and while they were talking with him, he became highly aggressive and ran towards female occupants of the home.
Neighbours said the man had been outside earlier in the evening and that he attacked another male neighbour who attempted to see if the offender was okay.
It's further alleged the man attacked the neighbour and the assault only stopped when the neighbour’s son hit the man’s body with a baseball bat.
Fearing for the man’s safety and that of others, an officer chased after him calling to him to stop. The man entered the home through the front glass door and slammed it closed.
The officer received cuts to his shoulder when the glass door shattered.
It's also further alleged the man caused a significant amount of damage to the inside of the home.
The man was taken to hospital for assessment and the injured officer was taken to hospital where he received four stiches to his shoulder before being released.
Inquiries are continuing.
