Mandurah lashed by strong winds

The South West was lashed by strong winds overnight as a cold front crossed the coast.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Mandurah recorded a wind gust of 89km/h just after 7pm.

Cape Leeuwin topped the list with a gust of 124km/h at 7:38pm, Rottnest Island recorded 102km/h at 8.05pm and Garden Island 96km/h at 8.13pm.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Adam Conroy said large waves were also recorded off the coast.

"Around Mandurah we recorded waves offshore reaching around 6 metres and the further offshore you go it was even higher, Rottnest peaked at 8 metres last night and we recorded 9 metres down south," he said.

Conditions are set to ease throughout today and tomorrow.

Another cold front is forecast on Wednesday.
