A fire lit in the early hours of Tuesday morning has caused half a million dollars worth of damage to the Perth train station.
Police said around 3.00am this morning they and fire services were called to the Wellington Street stations after reports of a fire were sent through.
A man in his 30s had purposefully lit fires in bins around the platforms, firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly after.
The man has been taken into police custody and a damage bill of around $500,000 is estimated.
Arson Squad officers are now at the scene and will start their investigation.
No trains have been delayed.
