An 83-year-old man has suffered serious injuries during a violent home invasion in Mandurah overnight.
Rockingham detectives are seeking information regarding a burglary incident that occurred at a residential address along Truarn Street last night.
At approximately 9pm a man entered the house through the unlocked front door and attacked the 83-year-old male occupant with a weapon before leaving and heading towards Burley Street.
An 11-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were present at the time of the incident.
The victim received serious injuries as a result of the attack and was taken to Peel Health Campus.
Seven News reports the elderly man has a fractured cheek bone and lacerations while the weapon is described as a rope with a heavy item on the end.
The man is described dark skinned, 40 years of age, 180cm tall and of a stocky build with shoulder length hair.
